1 243 You may not be a numbers person. In menswear, as in life, the numbers can add up quickly. So when it comes to dress shirt, there is only one number that you really need to know -- 120. You should probably know your neck size as well. For the sake of simplicity, let’s just say that there is one. Cool? For dress shirt quality, there are two things to take into consideration: thread count and ply. Thread count refers to the number of threads per square inch of fabric. Higher thread counts generally result in a smoother and more luxurious fabric. Like hamburgers and French fries, higher thread counts can become too much of a good thing. This often results in shirts that are uncomfortable and have difficulty breathing. For our dress shirts, we’ve recognized that a 120-thread count is ideal. It’s soft, but durable. It breathes easily and can be worn year around. In addition to thread count, a shirts ply is another important factor. A shirt’s ply is the number of yarns that are twisted together to make a single thread of fabric. All of our dress shirts are 2-ply. This results in fabrics that have a tighter weave and are heavier than single ply fabrics. To elevate your workwear from basic to remarkable, we’re re-introducing our Granville 120 shirts. We constructed these shirts from 120 cotton poplin, 2-ply fabric and are available in orange, blue, and purple tattersall patterns. Take a look at the product pages for suggested necktie and and sport coat pairings. Shop all of our 120 dress shirts here.
