Ledbury Lab: The Ardmore Shirt Jacket
We created the Ledbury Lab as a place for us to experiment a little and get our hands dirty. We release the collections in limited batches giving us the freedom to try innovative new fabrics and shapes. This month's release, The Ardmore Shirt Jacket, is especially exciting as it's already a regular in our weekly rotation.
You never know you needed a shirt jacket until you own one, when it quickly becomes a cornerstone of your wardrobe. Last November, we released the Ralston Shirt Jacket in military green, which remains one of Team Ledbury's favorite releases. The inspiration for the shirt jacket comes from our CEO’s grandfather, the original Paul Trible, who served in the Pacific in World War II. Not only did he pass down a bronze medal for meritorious service, he also passed down a well-worn military field jacket to his namesake Paul Trible III.
Our Master Patternmaker Abel Mendoza Diaz crafts each jacket by hand in our bespoke workshop. Each jacket takes 4-5 hours to construct, from collars to hem. For the past 17 years, Abel has been carefully making bespoke and custom menswear from start to finish in Virginia (read more on him here.) The Ardmore Shirt Jacket is constructed of 100% cotton twill and features two chest pockets with button flaps, perfect for storing change, keepsakes, and sunglasses. We gave this one a good pre-wash, making it feel extra lived-in and super soft to the touch.
The Ardmore Shirt Jacket runs true to size and is designed to fit comfortably over a button-up shirt. We also gave it a spring-ready makeover in crisp and classic dark navy twill. We produced only fourteen, so don’t think on this one for too long. Judging by the popularity of the last shirt jacket this one won't last! Keep an eye on this space for more Ledbury Lab releases to come.
