Playlist // The Righteous One
In honor of Record Store Day, we put together a playlist of our favorite tracks from this year's exclusive releases. We fondly named this playlist "The Righteous One," a new single from The Orwells that launches on vinyl on RSD. Stream our playlist, "The Righteous One," on Spotify. Here's a roundup of what we'll be scoping out on Saturday. You can check out the full list of RSD exclusives on the official website.
The Cure and Dinosaur Jr. - SIDE BY SIDE SERIES
The Cure's "Just Like Heaven" and a cover from Dinosaur Jr. of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven." We're in heaven.
Dawes/Conor Oberst -
SPLIT 7
We were fortunate to meet the Dawes crew on their stop in Richmond, so of course we were stoked to see Dawes on the RSD lineup. Dawes covers Conor Oberst, Conor Oberst covers Dawes. On a 7" vinyl.
Fleetwood Mac - DRAGONFLY/THE PURPLE DANCER
We're huge fans of Fleetwood Mac. Dragonfly was the first UK release from Fleetwood Mac o feature Christine McVie as a full member. The Purple Dancer has never been commercially released in the US. The question remains... Christine or Stevie?
Joy Division -
AN IDEAL FOR LIVING (1978)
A re-release of the first-ever Joy Division album. Thank you, RSD.
Hamilton Leithauser -
ALEXANDRA B/W IN THE SHALLOWS
The first two songs released from Walkmen frontman Hamilton Leithauser's first solo album.
Other releases to be on the lookout for: Link Wray - SLINKY/RENDEZVOUS, The Orwells - THE RIGHTEOUS ONE, Mayer Hawthorne/Shintaro Sakamoto - WINE GLASS WOMAN/IN A PHANTOM (Mayer covering Shintaro, Shintaro covering Mayer), Gram Parsons - 180 GRAM: ALTERNATE TAKES FROM GP AND GRIEVOUS ANGEL
