As we always said, it all began with a shirt. When we first set out to make shirts, we wanted to create a product of superior quality with an exceptional fit. In the past six years since our launch in 2009, we believe we have accomplished just that along with fleshing out a full collection of complementary products like pants, polos, sportcoats, and accessories. Making shirts in Virginia has always been our dream but didn’t become a reality until this summer when we acquired Creery Custom Shirts, a 108-year-old heritage shirt company in our hometown of Richmond, VA. Creery has been in the business of crafting bespoke shirts for over a century so we feel truly honored to help continue the institution and craft. The new location, dubbed The Ledbury Workshop, will include retail and shirt production under one roof. Paul Trible (our co-founder and CEO) puts it best: “It means a great deal to us to produce our own bespoke shirts in-house - and to do so in our hometown of Richmond.” We recently unveiled our renovation of the space, located in Richmond’s West End, which will serve double-duty as a production workshop and retail store. The Libbie & Patterson store was given a sophisticated mid-century modern update that fuses old and new, and will serve as a welcoming space for shoppers and their guests alike. From Trible, “We wanted to create a space where our customers would feel at home, a place where they might sit down and stay awhile. The new store is at once modern and timeless. The look is slightly more polished than our 14th Street shop, which has more rustic touches.” The store has dark shou sugi ban elements (a Japanese technique of preserving wood by charring it), modern copper and brass fixtures, and hits of our signature colorway, blaze orange and racing green. The Ledbury Workshop gives us the unique opportunity to create limited-run Virginia-crafted shirts, called The Commonwealth Collection. Starting on September 20th, the ready-to-wear shirts will be made to order and available for purchase online and in the Richmond workshop and take 3-4 weeks of production. The first release will include three styles, with far-reaching inspiration drawing from Richmond, the Chesapeake Bay, and our affinity for Italian modes of transportation. Check back this week for more details on the first release of The Commonwealth Collection.

We will continue to offer Creery’s signature bespoke shirting services, along with Made-to-Measure appointments, and our Ready-to-Wear collection will be available for off-the-rack purchases. We intend to carry on the tradition of bespoke shirtmaking and delving deeper into the craftsmanship of making the highest quality shirts for years to come. With a hundred years of shirtmaking under its belt, a couple presidential customers, a legend who goes by the name of Pearly Gates (more on him later), and multiple locations, Creery has a storied history in Richmond that we’re looking forward to sharing with you in the next few months. Stay tuned for more - this is only the beginning. 150914_LEDBURY_CREERY38987 Shop The Commonwealth Collection now
