Our Reserve Collection of Short Run, which we released earlier this week, features shirts constructed from the finest 120 and 140 woven cotton from Cotonificio Albini and Tessitura Monti. Throughout the collection’s lookbook, we frequently mix color and pattern as we pair the shirts with our spring woven neckties. We asked Juliana, our photo shoot stylist and resident Style Counselor, to tell us more about the shirting fabrics and lookbook pairings. <1> The 120 Royal Sheldon Check & The Grey Bryant Herringbone Tie Royal poplin is woven from the highest quality Egyptian cotton. We mixed patterns, but the subtle herringbone of the necktie and its neutral color work in balance with the classic checks of the shirt. By incorporating the Grey Bryant Herringbone Tie, we were able to include additional texture into the outfit. <2> The Poplin Stripe 120 & The Blue Bryant Herringbone Tie With the perfect hand and weight, we believe 120s cotton poplin to be the ideal dress shirting fabric. Once again, we mixed patterns but the stripes of the shirt complement the herringbone pattern of the necktie. Some may be weary of coordinating blue and purple but the soft blue of the necktie pairs well with the subtle purple stripes of the shirt. <3> The Navy Thin Stripe 120 & The Red Pierce Pindot Tie The Navy Thin Stripe 120 is constructed from luxurious 120s cotton poplin in a rich plain weave. Taking advantage of the navy backdrop of the shirt, we paired the Navy Thin Stripe 120 with the Red Pierce Pindot Tie to add a pop of color to this outfit. In addition, the dots of the necktie both complements and contrasts the stripes of the shirt. <4> The Sea Island Banker Stripe & The Pink Baron Dot Tie Sea Island cotton is arguably the world’s finest grade of cotton because of its strength and luster. To help bring out the stripes of the shirt, we coordinated the Sea Island Banker Stripe with the Pink Baron Dot Tie. The dots, as well as the weave technique used to construct the necktie, help to add additional texture and character to this outfit.
