moleskin1moleskin2 With the end of the "polar vortex," and "arctic blast," nowhere in sight, we've had a not-so-gentle reminder of the importance of dressing appropriately during the coldest of cold weather. To help us keep warm, we've relied on one of our favorite winter fabrics, moleskin. Moleskin is a tightly woven brushed cotton fabric that is known for its durability and heat retention properties. Historically, moleskin has been a workwear staple since the 19th century and was notably used for West German Army uniforms from the 1960s to the early 1990s. Today, moleskin fabric is often worn by those partaking in outdoor activities, and is most commonly found in trousers, sport coats and outerwear. We love experimenting with shirting so much that we decided to craft a couple of shirts from moleskin fabric for our current Short Run collection – The Melange Huntsman and The Red Stripe Huntsman. Each features a shortened body and were constructed from Italian-woven moleskin fabric. Our current collection of Short Run features shirts that will have you warm and ready for winter’s worst.
