Joe1 Joe2singlecuff In the spring of 2012, we collaborated with our friend and Virginia artisan Joe Rhames on creating a pair of sterling silver cufflinks. Our goal was to make cufflinks that were classic but stood out at the same time. The Monroe Cufflink was the result. As both craftsmen are based just outside of Charlottesville, Virginia, Marcus Wiley first introduced us to Joe. You might recall that we worked with Marcus on several belts, including The Free Union and, most recently, The Arlington. While Marcus cuts the leather and assembles the final product, Joe casts the buckles for our belts. It’s incredible to work with such talented artists. Joe is a third generation jewelry maker. A self-described watchmaker’s son, Joe’s dedication to his craft is evident in his work, whether it’s belt buckles or cufflinks. Solving problems and making each piece better than the last are Joe’s two guiding principles. For Joe, “if you can solve a problem, you can design something a little more complicated because you know how to do it.” The Monroe Cufflinks are now back in stock. Owning a pair of these cufflinks is an opportunity to acquire a one-of-a-kind piece from a master craftsman. Not only are we honored to continue to collaborate with Joe, we are happy to call him a friend. We learned a tremendous amount from the experience and are looking forward to the next collaboration.
